Sasko Bakeries’ rich history of baking knowledge and experience dates back to the early 1930's. Our 18 bakeries are distributed throughout South Africa, with three bakeries in the Cape, four in Gauteng, six in Limpopo, two each in the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal and one in the Eastern Cape. This not only makes us the biggest role player in the South African bread market, but also a truly national player in the industry.
Apart from bread, Sasko Bakeries also produce rolls and buns in three confectionery plants that supply a large portion of South Africa's fast food business on a national basis.
Over the years, Sasko Bakeries have invested heavily in the most advanced, world-class baking technology.
All our major bakeries make use of the latest pressure vacuum mixers to improve water absorption and ensure a fresher product. To improve the cell structure, texture and spreadability of our loaves, the latest four-piecing dough moulding technology is used at high-volume bakeries. Conditioned cooling is also used to prevent excessive moisture loss, enhance that critical fresh-baked feel and extend the shelf life of our breads.
Sasko Bakeries use a number of service providers and external safety audits to ensure the highest possible safety standards as well as compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. In addition, we established a Bakeries Food Safety Committee to co-ordinate the setting and attaining of standards for good manufacturing practice at all our bakeries and therefore reducing the risk of any food contamination in our products.
Intensive knowledge of the South African bread market and of consumers' insights into the bread category ensures that we provide a customised offering to our customers and end consumers.
